For day three of
our road trip around Ohio, we stayed put in Columbus for another day.
And instead of asking questions about a particular candidate, we left
the topic of the discussion more open.
Sunday's question: What is the
one issue you wish the campaigns had addressed more in 2012? With
Election Day only a day away, you can feel a hyper energy around the
city as we walk around High Street, near The Ohio State University. We
also visited a popular shopping center called North Market to get voters' opinions.
The people we talked to were
specific. They wanted to hear about environmental issues, religious
freedom, marriage equality, poverty, women's rights and even global
warming. However, a few people mentioned how they wished that both
candidates had been clearer about the issues they did address and laid
out more detailed plans. Several voters felt that the candidates were
too afraid of alienating people by addressing certain issues, and
instead tiptoed around sensitive topics to seem more neutral.
It will all come to an end in a
matter of hours, as the campaigns make last-ditch efforts to sway
voters. The real test of how the issues will be addressed will not be
revealed until the election determines our next president.
Tell us what you think.
